Mr. Annisul Huq, the newly elected President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) took over the charge of President from Syed Manzur Elahi, Administrator of FBCCI on Monday ( 24-3-2008 ) at a simple ceremony held at FBCCI Conference Center . Mr. Abul Kashem Ahmed, First Vice President, Mr. Abu Alam Chowdhury, Vice President and the Directors were also present.
Prof. Md. Ali Ashraf, Chairman of the Election Board of FBCCI officially announced the result of the two-tier election of FBCCI for the term 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 (24 Months) held on 17 and 19 March respectively. Mr. Annisul Huq was elected as President of FBCCI unopposed. Election for the post of FBCCI First Vice President Mr. Abul Kashem Ahmed and Vice President Mr. Abu Alam Chowdhury were also held uncontested.

In his speech Syed Manzur Elahi, Administrator of FBCCI expressed his satisfaction for successful holding free and fair election before the stipulated time. Mr. Elahi thanked the Election Board, Election Appeal Board and the FBCCI Secretariat for providing necessary support. He emphasized on combined efforts of the business community to face the prevailing challenges and wished the success of the newly elected committee of FBCCI.
The newly elected President Mr. Annisul Huq termed the present situation as crucial both politically and economically. Mr. Huq mentioned that taking over the charge of the newly elected Executive Committee of FBCCI is very significant in the month of independence. The FBCCI President emphasized on collective efforts of the business community to bring momentum and success in the economy.
Mr. Annisul Huq said that business community is the driving force of the country. Their contribution is 85% in employment and 95 % in export. He mentioned that to rebuild the economy, this is the right time to start with a new vision.
Alhaj Muhammed Ayub, Chairman of FBCCI Election Appeal Board also addressed the occasion.
Former Presidents, Vice Presidents, former Directors and the General Body Members of FBCCI also attended the function.
